The Bermuda U19 squad is one of the fastest growing squads in Bermuda Rugby, with numbers increasing from 20 to over 60 in the last three years alone. These players are largely based on-island but some are playing rugby in Canada, USA and the UK.
The U19 team has a clear vision which is to be consistently ranked as the best ‘island’ team in the region and to become more competitive with our bigger neighbours: USA South and Mexico. To help us achieve this the team has developed a unique culture which is focused on positivity, inclusiveness and hard work. We believe that this strong culture underpins everything we do as a team, success for us is defined just as much by off-field behaviour as it is on-field results.
The U19s play at least four games a year on island and are aiming to partake in two competitions off island in 2019. The pinnacle of these will be the Rugby Americas North U19 tournament which brings together national teams from across the region for a week of rugby. 2017 gave Bermuda their best ever result at the RAN tournament, finishing fourth behind USA South, Mexico and Trinidad. The current squad are targeting further success in the 2019 version.
Any interested players, irrespective of standard or ability are encouraged to train with the U19 National Team. You are eligible to play if you are currently a resident on the island or have previously lived here for 3 years or more, you will also need to be born after 1/1/2000.
