Women’s National 7S Squad

Bermuda Women’s Rugby National Team’s mission is to:
• Raise the profile of women’s rugby in Bermuda as one of the fastest growing sports in the world
• Provide our young ladies and girls with organized training and personal development in a safe environment
• Provide a development path for our girls and young ladies, via rugby, which can lead to playing rugby at college or university, on scholarship
• Develop a network of skilled female rugby players to represent Bermuda internationally on the National Team, potentially even at the Olympic Games

The Team has competed in several internationally recognized tournaments. In November 2012, the team travelled to the New York 7’s tournament, their inaugural international competition and the largest rugby event on the East Coast of the USA. In this tournament, the team proceeded to win the plate final in their first ever event as a team. Since that time, the team have participated in numerous additional international tournaments in Las Vegas, Cayman Islands, Mexico, Calgary, Canada, Boston and Trinidad and Tobago. The team’s performance has steadily improved with every event, and we were able to send some of our younger players on the more recent trips.

The Ladies National Team competed at the Rugby America North (RAN) Women’s 7’s Tournament in Barbados in October 2018, finishing in 8th place.
The team has placed 6th and 4th in 2013 and 2014 RAN Tournaments previously (we were unfortunately unable to attend the 2015 RAN competition).
The goal is to make our team’s attendance at annual RAN events a regular occurrence, thus creating a consistent avenue for development of our female rugby players.
