Mariners Women Remain Unbeaten

Renegades edged past Police 24-17 in the women’s league thanks to a hat-trick by Rachel Jennings at North Field, National Sports Centre, at the weekend.

Laura Mulligan, who kicked two conversions, and Jess Cassidy also scored tries for Renegades.

Police’s scorers were Estienne Coetzee, who bagged a brace, and Meagan Jackson. Fiona Donaldson kicked a conversion.

Mariners remain unbeaten after a 36-10 win over Teachers, with Gina Newson, Apryl Jackson and Lysmeiri Santana all scoring two tries each.

Demeka Borden and Karly Alleyne also got on the scoresheet, with Becky Garley kicking a conversion. Najee Pit-Clarke scored for Teachers.

In the men’s league, Renegades, the defending champions, defeated Police 46-17 courtesy of trebles from Conor McGlynn and Robin Bricknell.

Also scoring for Renegades were Tom Healy, Jahan Cedanio and Jamie Baum. Ben Green and Dan Cole were among the scorers for Police. A youthful Teachers side helped themselves to six tries against a flagging Mariners, who missed several key players.

Teachers won 40-12, with two tries and five conversions from George Peets. Corey Boyce, Thomas Greenslade and Hosani Samuels also added tries.

Kia Edwards notched two tries for Mariners, one of which was converted by Jamie Hodgkins.
